Wabash National

Wabash National is a leading North American manufacturer of trailers and transportation systems. I collaborated with their engineering and digital teams through Purdue’s Data Mine to build an AI chatbot that makes their parts catalog easier to search.

I led a team of eight undergraduate students at Purdue University to build and deploy a chatbot for Wabash National. We set everything up on Microsoft Azure, integrated with parameterized Azure LLMs, and indexed hundreds of thousands of rows of product data so the bot could answer questions about parts, pricing, and availability in real time.

Beyond the AI, we designed a comprehensive frontend for the chatbot, connected it to a backend API, and used SQL to store and retrieve product information reliably.

I also ran our weekly meetings and code reviews, coordinated who was working on what, and handled all communication with the Wabash engineering team to make sure our work aligned with their needs.

At the end of the year, we presented our work at The Data Mine symposium, and I was recognized with an Outstanding Student Award for the project.
